Fostering a sense of community through food.
Up Beet Farm was founded on the idea of self-sufficiency, and giving back to the environment and the community. We believe that the best way to do that is by providing you with fresh, nutritious produce grown to benefit the soil. Help us on our mission to serve the Sauk Prairie area!

Becca French
OWNER
Becca is a biologist turned farmer who is passionate about growing practices that promote biodiversity and maintain soil structure. She’s always been attracted to the idea of producing her own food, and during the COVID pandemic she decided to go all in. She thought that becoming self-sufficient would be beneficial in a future where supply chains were disrupted and community became more vital than ever. Her mission since founding Up Beet Farm has not only been growing nutritious food for the community with minimal outside inputs (i.e., fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides), but also to leave the soil in better shape than when she started.
When she’s not farming, Becca enjoys staying active in many types of ways, doing hobbies (like beekeeping), camping, and spending time with family.

Koner French
RESIDENT CRAFTSMAN
Koner didn’t know one day he would be helping his wife run a vegetable farm, but he didn’t bat an eye. He’s a natural farmer with his breadth of skills and “get ‘er done” mindset. When he’s is not at his off farm job as a steamfitter, you can catch him helping the farm run smoothly - from mowing, harvesting, and planting, fixing veggie coolers and fans, to building tools, and selling at markets, Koner is a Jack of all trades and problem solver extraordinaire, and we’re lucky to have him!
In Koner’s free time, he enjoys working on projects, staying active, hanging out with family, and doing hobbies (like maple syruping, beekeeping, and grafting fruit trees).

Kevin Brey
ASSISTANT TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER/”PRENTY”
Farming has always been in Kevin’s blood having grown up on a small dairy farm near Plain, Wisconsin. After a career in public service work for the State of Wisconsin with a mission to protect the state’s land, water and human health, Kevin is excited to return to his love and passion for being connected with God’s creation, caring for the land through sustainable agriculture and assisting with producing a variety of vegetables for others for healthy eating.
While not working on the farm, Kevin enjoys spending time with family, training for and running Spartan races and reading.
Note from Becca: Kevin started as a farmer’s market patron turned work share member in 2024. Kevin’s enthusiasm, hard working nature, and kindness brought so much to the farm that we had to offer him a job. We’re so grateful to have him join us. Thank you for all you do Kevin!
